In our humble opinion, there are no hard-and-fast rules for branding. Just as no two people are the same, no two brands– even those within the same industry– are the same. One client's company might call for something a bit more quietly reserved while another's might call for the visual equivalent of Gimli sounding the horn of helm hammerhend– loud, bellowing, bold with an extremely urgent call to action! 

At the start of each and every branding project we take on, we walk our clients through a bespoke questionnaire that encourages them to get super specific about their goals, ambitions, aesthetics, and desires for their business. From there, we work together closely as we vision-board, draft, design and revise until the branding looks and feels absolutely perfect and everyone's happy to shout about it from the mountaintops, attention-seeking horn optional.
